Nigella Seeds (Nigella Sativa)
Properly called nigella seed, and one of the more distinctive spices on the shelf. The aroma is close to oregano, the flavor peppery and a little bitter, dry and almost crunchy like mustard seed.
Ingredients: Nigella seed.
How to use: Dry roast briefly to bring out the aroma.
Try it in: naan and flatbread, curries, vegetarian dishes, pickles, and on top of cheese and eggs.
