Ground Nutmeg

The seed of a tropical evergreen, with a rich, piney, camphor-like aroma and a flavor that's nutty, spicy, bittersweet, and warm, with echoes of clove.

Ingredients: Ground nutmeg.

Try it in: bechamel and cream sauces, mashed potatoes, spinach, eggnog, pumpkin pie, custards, and sausage. A small grating is usually enough.
